Ingredients
1 cup butter
4 heaping tablespoons sugar
12 heaping tablespoons flour
1 cup butter
4 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons light Karo Syrup
1 can condensed milk (not evaporated)
8 to 12 ounces of milk chocolate
Instructions
Cream 1 cup butter and 4 heaping tablespoons sugar, add flour until mixture binds, turn out on lightly floured board and knead until smooth. Press evenly into 13x9 inch pan and prick with fork. Bake in 350° oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until light golden brown. Cool in pan. For filling, combine 1 cup butter, remaining 4 tablespoons sugar, syrup and condensed milk in a saucepan and stir until dissolved. Bring slowly to a boil and cook stirring for 8 minutes (mixture will be brownish in color). Cool slightly then spread over cold shortbread in pan and leave to set. Slowly melt milk chocolate over low heat or in a microwave. Spread on top of set filling.
