Whole Wheat Raisin Bars

Ingredients

3/4 cup all purpose flour
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup quick oats
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup raisins
1/3 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

Instructions

Mix well the flours, oats, baking powder and soda; set aside. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Stir in raisins and gradually the flour mixture just until blended. Spread in greased 9" square baking pan. Sprinkle nuts on top. Bake on center rack in preheated 350° oven for 25 minutes or until light brown. Cool in pan on rack for 10 minutes. While still warm cut into 24 bars. Store these wholesome bars tightly covered and expect their texture to be dry and coarse.
